CONSTABLE, John. 1776-1837. Born in Suffolk, the son of a miller. After much parental opposition he succeeded in reaching London and was admitted as a student to the Royal Academy. For many years his wonderful studies of nature met with little appreciation in a world more familiar with stylised and artificial landscapes. His native countryside exercised the greatest influence upon him and he loved to roam about the fields with his sketch-book. He composed his finished canvases straight from these sketches and never included in them the fanciful decorations, such as pillars and ruins, which were so popular at the time. Later his works won high praise both in England and France and his paintings were much admired by the Impressionists.
Our standard prints are reproduced on a premium semi matt finish paper. Its micro-porous resin coating provides exceptional colour accuracy and stability
Our watercolour board has a natural white finish with a slightly structured, soft-textured surface equivalent to a traditional etching fine art paper. The surface has a special matte coating, designed for high quality fine art reproduction with giclée technology. It is an archival quality paper with great colour accuracy.
